My family at the Kentucky game

LSU

Oh hail to thee our alma mata LSU. I am a proud to be a graduate of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. I am a huge fan of the Tigers athletic teams, especially football and basketball.

Louisiana State University is a public, co-ed university with the main campus being located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Current enrollment figures stand at about 30,000. The campus is located on a large area of land south of the downtown area along the banks of the Mississippi River. The campus features many lovely mature live oak trees. The university has has grown quite a bit over the years and is without a doubt the flagship university for the state of Louisiana. A trip around the campus these days shows many new buildings and lots of construction going on just about everywhere.

Some of the happiest and most memorable times of my life have been at the football games. I remember as a boy at about 8 years old, when my dad (who later died about a year later of a heart attack) took me to the LSU versus Ole Miss game in Tiger Stadium. This was a long time ago, like 1972 I think. Anyway, my dad took me and a friend of his who had a son and we went to the game. Things looked hopeless for the Tigers as they trailed 16-10 and many fans began to leave the stadium early to beat the traffic rush. We stayed for what turned out to be one of the most memorable games in Tiger history. Star Tiger quarterback Bert Jones connected on about a 20 yard pass to running back Brad Davis with one second left on the clock for a touchdown to tie the game. Then, with no time left on the clock, kicker Rusty Jackson made the extra point to give the home team an improbable, thrilling and exciting victory. This is one of my fondest childhood memories that I got to experience with my father.

I'm sure many other Tiger fans could give you similar stories about their experiences and what it meant to them and their family and friends.
