Lousiana's Old State Capitol Building

Baton Rouge News

Baton Rouge news is covered well in our city by The Advocate newspaper and by the two larger television stations, WBRZ Channel 2, and WAFB Channel 9. This page has feeds and links for important news sites and stories. Above is a picture of Bon Carre business and technology center on Florida Blvd.

The city is ever changing and growing. The traffic situation after Hurricane Katrina has made things much more congested on our roadways. Just ask a local driver and they might give you an earful. There are improvements being made to the road system. Recent work at the large Sherwood Forest Blvd., Airline Highway and Essen Lane intersection was just completed in an unusual way from the norm. It is supposed to allow traffic to flow more freely and quickly through this logjam intersection. Airline Highway has been widened to three lanes between Florida and the Interstate. This should help things flow better. Along Florida Blvd. some lights have been taken out to speed things up and that seems to have helped too. The city still has a way to go on the traffic problems.
