Remembering Jack Serio of New Orleans

The first LSU home game of the year against Virginia Tech I was greatly saddened to learn of the death of long time friend Jack Serio of New Orleans. Jack had only recently passed away in August due to a known heart condition. His daughter told us the news and this was rather upsetting for us all. Jack was a large beaming man full of life and made the games even more fun. He was very knowledgeable of the team and many times new some inside scoop that he would share with us. We would give high fives all the time after touchdowns and always enjoyed his company. It just won't be the same with "Big Jack." Jack's daughter said that Nick Saban and Les Miles both sent flowers to his memorial service and Jack's daughter has vowed to keep his seats next to ours at the games and cheer the Tigers on as he would have wanted.

Jack and his brother were featured on the documentary made about Hurricane Katrina and the LSU football season and the things that everyone went through. This show appeared on FOX sports and played several times. Jack and his brother Mike also appeared on the Throw down with Bobby Flay show on the Food Network shortly before his death.

The Tigers football games were a large and happy part of Jack's life and I am blessed to have been able to share many of these happy moments sitting next to him for many years. May you rest in peace Jack.
